Life Settlements

A Life Settlement is to get hold of a life insurance policy covering a person who is 65+ years who has a limited life expectancy of less than 5 years or a person with a chronic disease (Cancer – Aids) with a life expectancy of less than 2 years
Until Recently the owner of an auneeded policy had two options:

  1. Sell the policy back to the institution that issued it for its cash surrender value (if any)
  2. Or allow the policy to lapse

Now there is a Third Option For Life Settlement…..

Life Settlements allow policy owners to sell an unneeded life insurance policy to an institutional funding source for more than the policy owner would receive by cashing in the policy.

The owner sells the policy for cash which can be used for any purpose.

There are many reasons why a policy would be sold….

Policy owner feels he is over insured. Objectives can be handled with other coverage.

Policy is simply no longer needed. Over time, estate planning needs change, family needs change, and financial needs change.

Private equity

Private equity consists of private, long-term equity investments in companies that are not publicly traded on a stock exchange. Due to their strategy, private equity funds are classified. Investments in private equity funds are generally held over the long term with an investment horizon of several years.

Commodities

Investments can be made directly as a physical investment or indirectly via index certificates, shares in commodity companies or investment funds.

Property

Investing in property can either take place via the direct purchase of apartments or a building, or indirectly via shares, investments in properties, investment funds or so-called REITs.

Hedge funds
